THE GREATEST IS SERVANT OF ALL!
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” —Mark 9:35
Jesus truly elevates servanthood as the greatest focus for His followers. Jesus set the example for us—
“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!” —Philippians 2:5-8
Look how Jesus served humanity! How are you and I doing so? Truly astounding that “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (II Corinthians 5:21). Jesus did this for the whole world— “He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (I John 2:2). So now, because of the awesome servanthood of Jesus, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).
If we are not being the type of servants that Jesus desires us to be, then “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:15-15). We are sent servants (John 17:18) —“As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.” May we be faithful as sent servants. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6U8O_WnPZY&list=RDr6U8O_WnPZY&start_radio=1
