GOD’S WORD, NOT HUMAN TRADITION/RULES, IS THE FINAL AUTHORITY

Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. —Matthew 15:6

They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules. —Matthew 15:9

The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart.  The commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes. —Psalm 19:8

Beware that you are not nullifying “the word of God for the sake of your tradition.”  Now here is a dangerous thing.  Jesus said, “They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.”  Watch out for those that go beyond God’s Word for the sake of their “tradition” and are teaching “merely human rules.”

To “nullity” the Word of God is to “disannul, make of none effect, invalidate or to make of no effect.”  In other words, the Word of God is not the final authority, but the tradition becomes the final authority.  That final authority becomes “merely human rules.”  When this happens then those caught in this web, Jesus said, “worship me in vain.”  Then cancel out the authority of God’s Word and establish their own “human rules.”

Why would someone do this when God’s Word—

  • Is right
  • Gives joy to the heart
  • Is radiant
  • Gives light to the eyes

So are you following the Word of God or human tradition and rules that make your worship in vain (pointless, useless, empty).  As for me, I will seek to cling to what God says in His Word.  Yes, Dear Father, may I listen to You above all else by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  May I also share Your Word with others that they may know Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eNceIm1sjQ&list=RD5eNceIm1sjQ&start_radio=1
