FIND HOPE IN GOD’S WORD!
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. —Romans 15:4
God’s Word “was written to teach us.” He wants to teach us “so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. First, there are so many stories He has relayed to us of those who endured through various circumstances with His help. So, we too, with His help, can endure situations we find ourselves in. Secondly, God’s Word, as we learn from Him, brings encouragement. We can learn from the past how God worked in people’s lives and through circumstances and then trust Him to do the same in our lives. So, this endurance we learn in God’s Word and the encouragement that God’s Word brings to us are provided to us “that we might have hope.”
To receive this hope, we must be in His Word— listening to Him and applying what He has said to us. That is how we are encouraged and hopeful. Then we can share this encouragement and hopefulness with others. What has He said to you today? How are you applying that to your life? Who can you share this with today?
Today I am writing this to you and not keeping it to myself. Why? Thirteen years ago, I was at a retreat and the Holy Spirit of God revealed to me that I was not to just write down in a journal what He was saying to me morning by morning, but to share what He was teaching me in this format. That is why I am writing this.
Beyond that though, who will I come across today that I can share how they can have hope and encouragement? This truth that God’s Word gives hope needs to be shared with others and so I will seek to do so with those I have regular contact with and with those my path crosses from day to day. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRfU2kbBaoU&list=RDzRfU2kbBaoU&start_radio=1
