DECLARE WHOSE YOU ARE THROUGH BELIEVER’S BAPTISM
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. —Romans 5:1-2
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! —Romans 5:8-10
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. —Romans 6:3-5
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 6:23
What a marvel that God has given to us this wonderful gift of eternal life through Jesus when the wages of our sin was death— eternal separation from God in hell. Rejoice in this awesome gift that He has given us who have called on Jesus (Romans 10:13). Now, after receiving this gift of eternal life, we have peace with God through Jesus. It is by Him that we have access to this grace— this underserved favor of God’s upon us!
Jesus did this while we were yet sinners and enemies of His. But now that we are saved from God’s wrath, having been reconciled to Him by the death of Jesus. Of course, after Jesus died, He rose from the grave proving Himself to be the Son of God (Romans 1:4). Baptism is a picture and a witness of our dying with Jesus (going under the water) and then as Jesus rose from the dead, we too rose to new life (coming up out of the water). Baptism is one of the first steps a new believer in Jesus is to take— declaring their relationship with Jesus and His church.
If you have never been baptized, I would encourage you— if you truly have called on Jesus to save you from your sin and to new life with Him and eternal life— to be baptized. By doing so, you are declaring your relationship with Jesus and your desire to follow Him.
Dear Father, if there are any reading this who have not declared their faith in Jesus through baptism, may they do so. Yes, may it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rKKybs7o2Q&list=RD1rKKybs7o2Q&start_radio=1
