PRIDE’S FATE

But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. —II Chronicles 26:16

Power goes to some people’s heads and they become prideful and do things they shouldn’t.  Pride… “i” is right in the middle of the word.  “I” wants to be the center of attention.  Pride is all about “i”, not others, not God.  Pride will lead to one’s downfall— “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall” (Proverbs 16:18).  When King Uzziah “was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense,” the Lord God Almighty struck him with leprosy (II Chronicles 26:19) and so he was for the rest of his life— “King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house —leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord” (II Chronicles 26:21).  The very thing he sought to do, but shouldn’t have done, brought his downfall.

Don’t let the “i” in pride cause you to be the center of attention and actions.  No, Dear Father, may I not be the focus, but may You be the focus in my life by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may this be so and all for Your honor and glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvDYY02_V54&list=RDvvDYY02_V54&start_radio=1
