INQUIRE OF OUR LORD AND DON’T BE DECEIVED

The Israelites sampled their provisions but did not inquire of the Lord. —Joshua 9:14

Beware of looking at the outward appearance alone.  You could be deceived, especially if you do not inquire of our Lord and look at things from His perspective.  This is what happened when the Gibeonites came to them.  Even though they lived close by, “They put worn, patched sandals on their feet and threadbare clothing on their bodies, and their whole supply of bread was dry and moldy” (Joshua 9:4-5).  They made it look like and claimed that they came from a distant country.  The Israelites looked at the outward signs that gave the appearance that these people travel a great distance, but they did not.  The Israelites “did not inquire of the Lord” and so were deceived.

We too better not just look at the outward appearance in any situation.  We need to be talking with our Lord about these matters and not just go by our own senses.  Our own senses can be deceived, but our Lord can never be deceived.  Why would we not look to Him in our decision making?  My Dear Father, may I not seek to figure things out on my own, but may I come to You for direction.  You promise to teach me and guide me in the way that I should go.  May You do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://youtu.be/8Yv2jYbuIc8?t=171
