SIGNS OF THE LATER END

Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is made holy by the word of God and prayer. —I Timothy 4:1-5

             So in the later times we are told that “some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.”  This falling away is also mentioned in Matthew 24:10— “At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people” and in II Thessalonians 5:3-4— “Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.”

             This falling away from the faith, turning away from the faith or rebellion will occur like this—

• People devoted themselves to deceitful spirits
• People devoted themselves to teachings of demons
• People are listening to the insincerity of liars
• People are listening to those whose consciences are not working right
• People are listening to those who forbid marriage
• People are listening to those who require abstinence from foods
• People are not acknowledging God created these foods to be received with thanksgiving

So, beware and alert and understand that these will be prevalent in the later end of time.  But we who believe and know the truth are to—

• Receive food with thanksgiving to God
• Know that God is the Creator of food
• Know that food is made holy by the Word of God
• Know that food is made holy by prayer

Beware of those who seek to deceive in any of these areas that deny and go against God’s creative design—

• Trust in Jesus above all others
• Trust in God’s Word as the final authority
• Trust in God’s design and purpose for marriage
• Trust in God’s design for diet
• Trust in God’s desire for us to be thankful
• Trust and believe in the Truth
• Trust in the power of God’s Word and prayer
