BE HEARTILY ABOUT HIS WORK

So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart. —Nehemiah 4:6

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty. —Proverbs 21:8

We are to be diligent in the plans our Lord has for us.  Yes, truly, our prayer should be— “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands” (Psalm 90:17).  Why would He not favor us in His work?  After all, “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).  As His followers, we need to follow the Holy Spirit’s guidance into the work He has for us— “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come” (John 16:13).  Also, He tells us that “will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” (Psalm 32:8) and to “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).  So, He will—

  • Establish the work of our hands for us
  • Guide us into all truth
  • Tell us what is to come
  • Instruct us in the way we should go
  • Teach in the way we should go
  • Lovingly counsel us
  • Make our paths straight

We are to—

  • Ask for His favor to be upon us
  • Work with all our heart
  • Be involved with the work He has prepared for us
  • Ask for the Holy Spirit’s guidance
  • Listen for His instruction and teaching for the way He desires us to go
  • Have an ear for His counseling
  • Trust Him
  • Don’t trust our own understanding
  • Acknowledge Him always
  • Expect He will guide us on the path to go

Dear Father, my desire is to be heartily about Your Work.  I will trust You to guide me into all that Your work for me is.  May I be faithful as You show me by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  May this be all for Your honor and glory and to the benefit of many others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNjZlHARnEk&list=RDeNjZlHARnEk&start_radio=1
