FOOLS LIVE AS THOUGH THERE IS NO GOD

“Your own conduct and actions have brought this on you.  This is your punishment.  How bitter it is!  How it pierces to the heart!” —Jeremiah 4:18

They do not say to themselves, ‘Let us fear the Lord our God, who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’  Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good. —Jeremiah 5:24-25

To whom can I speak and give warning?  Who will listen to me?  Their ears are closed so they cannot hear.  The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it. —Jeremiah 6:10

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”  They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. —Psalm 14:1

            Our own conduct can bring punishment from God upon us.  When people do not fear the Lord God, their wrongdoings bring consequences.  The sin that people think is sweet will actually deprive them of what is really good.

            Unfortunately, there are many to whom “The word of the Lord is offensive to them; they find no pleasure in it.”  Just consider how the Ten Commandments being posted in schools were offensive and people desired them to be removed because it was offensive to them.  They did not want to heed their warning.  They did not want to listen to what they said.

            So now, as “a fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God,’” People “are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good.”  How foolish to go one’s own way and not to follow what our Lord says.  Look at our society, how corrupt it is.  Look how vile our society’s deeds are.  Where are those seeking to do good?
