OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY HAS ALL POWER AND AUTHORITY!

OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY HAS ALL POWER AND AUTHORITY!

Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’  Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria? —II Kings 18:32-33

Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. And Hezekiah prayed to the Lord: “Lord, the God of Israel, enthroned between the cherubim, you alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Give ear, Lord, and hear; open your eyes, Lord, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God.  “It is true, Lord, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.” —II Kings 19:14-19

That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there. —II Kings 19:35-36

Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known. —Psalm 106:8

How foolish when leaders of the world think they have unlimited power and authority.  They don’t.  It is true of all leaders what Jesus said to Pilate— “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above” (John 19:11).  The power and authority a leader has was given to them by God.  They are responsible first most to Him and will give an account to Him.  He is accomplishing His will and plan through leaders which is hard for us to understand so many times.

“The king of Assyria sent his supreme commander, his chief officer and his field commander with a large army” (II Kings 18:17).  He threatened those in Jerusalem saying, “Do not listen to Hezekiah, for he is misleading you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’  Has the god of any nation ever delivered his land from the hand of the king of Assyria?”  Yeh, he truly thought he had all power and authority!

Hezekiah prayed.  He ended his prayer with this: “Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, Lord, are God.”  The Lord our God answered that prayer and “That night the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! So Sennacherib king of Assyria broke camp and withdrew. He returned to Nineveh and stayed there.”

Truly, Our Lord God “saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known.”  He does the same today among nations and among individual.  Look around the earth and all of creation and see His power at work day by day.  Yes, we rejoice in knowing that He alone is our Lord God Almighty and we can trust Him fully to carry out His purposes.  Let us seek His face often and line up with His will.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son.  Let us seek how You desire to work out Your will in and through our lives as You desire to show Your great power and authority!  Yes, for Your honor and glory! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdhIz3SKAp8
