LOOK, BELIEVE AND RECEIVE ETERNAL LIFE!
Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” —John 6:28-29
For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” —John 6:40
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him. And I will raise him up on the last day. —John 6:44
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. —John 6:47
When Jesus was asked, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus said, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” The work of God is to believe in His Son— “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Every person “who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life.” Are you looking on the Son, Jesus, and believing in Him? “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him” (John 3:14-15). When the Lord sent a plague of poisonous snakes among the people as a judgment, we read that “The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived” (Numbers 21:8-9).
So is today. Those who will look to Jesus who was “lifted up on the cross” and believe have eternal life. Just as those in Moses’ day looked at the bronze serpent, as told by the Lord to do, and did not physically die, so now those who look to Jesus, as told by His Father, will have eternal life. Have you looked to Jesus and believed? If so, you have eternal life. Now, out of gratitude and your love for Him, be faithful to be and do what he desires. Dear Father, I thank You for drawing me to Jesus. If there are any reading this that feel Your tug on their hearts, may they look to Jesus and believe and received that eternal life that only comes through Him.
