GOD’S WORD, NOT CONTRARY THOUGHT, IS TO BE OUR PRIORITY!

But my brothers who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt with fear; yet I wholly followed the Lord my God. —Joshua 14:8

            Obedience brings blessing… disobedience brings disappointment and consequences.  Caleb, along with Joshua, brought favorable reports after reconnaissance of the land that the Lord already said He was giving to them.  The ten others brought back a discouraging report that impacted the whole nation to disobedience.  The people wanted to stone Joshua & Caleb for their encouraging words to go up and take the land as our Lord has said.  Instead, they went the way of following the disobedience of the ten and the consequences of that disobedience led to the ten’s immediate judgment by death from the Lord.  Then all Israel would experience the consequences of four decades of wandering in the wilderness for their taking the advice of the disobedient.  Those twenty years old and up that grumbled against the Lord would die in the wilderness.  They would not enter the land.

            We need to depend on the Word of God in our decision making.  What God says is of utmost importance and we need to adhere to what He has to say.  Jesus, when He was tempted by Satan, reminded Satan what the Word of God says which He adhered to perfectly.  May we seek to do the same.  Regardless of what the majority is doing around us, let us faithfully listen to what our Lord is saying and be obedient to Him.  That is what is most important and is to be our highest priority.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
