THE WICKED’S FOCUS IS NOT TO BE OUR FOCUS

THE WICKED’S FOCUS IS NOT TO BE OUR FOCUS

When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan. —Proverbs 29:2

By justice a king gives a country stability, but those who are greedy for bribes tear it down. —Proverbs 29:4

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. —Proverbs 29:7

If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked. —Proverbs 29:12

When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall. —Proverbs 29:16

The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright. —Proverbs 29:27

Are you groaning under the weight of what is happening in our nation?  You groan because those who are wicked are ruling.  Do you sense the instability in our nation?  That is because the greedy are taking bribes and tearing down our nation.  The wicked do not have any real concern for the poor, but those who follow Jesus do.  The wicked just want to keep them in their poverty so they can keep them dependent on them.  The wicked also listens to lies and this encourages his officials to be wicked as well.  And “the wicked detest the upright” and this is easily seen in the actions of the wicked.

These verses speak to the times we are presently in.  And yet, as followers of Jesus, our job description has not changed.  The Word of God is our guide and not the word of man.  The work of God is to be our focus and not the work of man.  So let us not, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, get distracted by all the wickedness that is happening in our nation and in the world.  No, instead, let us be focused on what Jesus wants us to be focused on— loving God, loving people, being witnesses and making disciples until the whole world hears the gospel (Matthew 24:14) and disciples are made right to the end of this age (Matthew 28:18-20).  Yes, let us keep our focus!

May this be so, Dear Father, and may we not get distracted by all that is going on in our world that would take us away from the main mission Jesus has given us.  May we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus as we run this race with perseverance that You have marked out for us. May we do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM
