LOOK TO JESUS IN BELIEF— HE ALONE SAVES!
The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived. —Numbers 21:8-9
For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person. —Mark 7:21-23
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him. —John 3:14-15
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. —Ephesians 2:1-5
The people sinned and the Lord sent a plague of poisonous snakes among them. If they were bitten, they would die. But the Lord told Moses to put a bronze snake on a pole and when someone was bitten if they would just look at it, they would be healed of the snake bite and would live.
In the same way, Jesus said that He would be lifted up and everyone who would believe in Him, look to Him, would have eternal life. Just as the Israelites had to act and look at the bronze serpent on the pole to live, so also a person, bitten by the sin bite of Satan, needs to act and look to Jesus in belief to be saved. This is being saved, not from physical death, but from eternal death, the second death, being thrown into hell… forever. All a person has to do is look to Jesus in belief!
This is written about all people, including you— “out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. Amazingly, “because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.” How does that happen? Dear Father, I thank You for this amazing grace You have shown us through Jesus. Oh, please if there are any reading this today, may they look to Jesus in belief and then live for Him.
