FREEDOM WITHOUT FAITH ENDS IN FAILURE

President John Adams put it this way—

“Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.  It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

There is no doubt that the founding fathers of this nation were influenced by our Lord Jesus Christ.  The Declaration of Independence starts off with—

“WHEN in the Course of human Events, it becomes necessary for one People to dissolve the Political Bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the Powers of the Earth, the separate and equal Station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent Respect to the Opinions of Mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the Separation.
          We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness…”

In the year of our Lord.  Lord who?  Lord Jesus, that’s who.  He is Nature’s God.  He is the Creator.  These early signers were influenced by our Lord Jesus Christ and for those who are honest, there is no denying that.

Only those who know Jesus can experience true freedom (John 8:31-32, 36).  Those who know the true freedom of Jesus can encourage a government to encourage a way of life that includes freedom.  But when those who govern do not know the true freedom in Jesus.  Government will slide toward tyranny.  Our country, nor any country, is meant to be a Theocracy.  Jesus said His Kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36).  This earthly age is falling away.  This earth will never know a world-wide, all encompassing peace that only Jesus can give.  Only those who know Him can have that.  But one day, He will Himself usher in that Kingdom of perfect peace.

Nations rise and fall because of their lustful desires.  That is the way of this fallen world.  But one day Jesus will come and make it all right… like it was in the beginning, before sin entered the world.  It will be better.  Until then, we followers of Jesus need to encourage others to prepare now to meet Jesus as Savior and not as Judge.  May we do so.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL7rMNfB1Lg
