For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. —Luke 19:10

What are some things that people seek for?

  • A good job
  • A spouse
  • Wealth
  • Prestige
  • Power positions
  • Trophies
  • Pleasures
  • Good health

And so much more could be on that list.  Much effort is put into searching for those things that are important to us.  What is it that you are seeking?  Jesus came to seek and save the lost.  That is what His life was all about on this planet.  Ever since the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve sinned, God’s plan was to rescue people from their sin.  God’s rescue plan was to send the Lamb of God to be a substitute death for sin and then whoever calls on Jesus would be saved from their sin (Romans 10:13).  Jesus knew no sin, committed no sin, but became a sin offering on our behalf and then the righteousness of God is given to all who call on Jesus (II Corinthians 5:21).

God still seeks the lost today and saves them.  He has called us to work alongside Him to do so, to be involved in the work of seeking and saving, of being witnesses for Him and disciple-makers with Him (Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20).  Are we working with God by intentionally seeking the lost?  Do we put as much effort in seeking the lost as we do other things?  May it be so!  Yes, Dear Father, may we seek the lost as Jesus did/does.  Oh, that we would work along with You in this ministry of seeking and saving and may it be done in the power of You Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus my Lord.
