DON’T BE ROBBED OF PRAYER
DON’T BE ROBBED OF PRAYER
He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” —Matthew 21:13
The temple was to be a place where people would come to pray, to seek the Lord’s face. But there were those who “robbed” the temple of the purpose it was intended for. Instead, those at that time turned it into “a den of robbers.” They were using the temple for their own purposes and not the Lord’s— their own desires and not His.
Today the temple is not the central location for gathering to pray. God’s people are where He resides— “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies” (I Corinthians 6:19-20). Are we honoring Him by taking the time to spend with Him in prayer— talking with Him and listening to Him? If not, what is “robbing” us of that time?
Wow, yes life is busy, but are we so busy with those “important” things that we do not make the time or take the time to spend with our Lord God Almighty? Oh, that we would take that time, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son to spend time talking and listening to You! Yes, may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIpnW3rtRQ4&list=RDXIpnW3rtRQ4&start_radio=1
