DEATH— THE FINAL ENEMY’S DEFEAT
As he came from his mother’s womb he shall go again, naked as he came, and shall take nothing for his toil that he may carry away in his hand. —Ecclesiastes 5:15
No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. —Ecclesiastes 8:8
“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away; may the name of the LORD be praised.” —Job 1:21
And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 2:16-17
By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.” —Genesis 3:19
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned—Romans 5:12
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might break the power of him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. ===Hebrews 2:14-15
‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away. —Revelation 21:4
Death! It comes to us all—to the rich and poor, to the powerful and the weak, to the righteous and unrighteous, to the tyrant and to the benevolent— yes, death comes to us all. As someone has said, “Death is the great equalizer.” But “The last enemy to be destroyed is death” (I Corinthians 15:26). “Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death” (Revelation 20:14).
The sin of man has ruined everything. Sin has a corrupting nature to it. Ever since Adam disobeyed God our world has been a mess and will be until our Lord makes all things new (Revelation 21:5). Unfortunately, it will get worse— “But woe to the earth and the sea, because the devil has gone down to you! He is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short” (Revelation 12:12). Yes, this planet will be like the days of Noah when “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time” and “the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence… God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. (Genesis 6:5, 12:13; Matthew 24:). “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man” (Matthew 24:37). The wicked will be living their wicked ways and will not anticipate or expect Jesus coming back… but He will.
So, whether we die or are alive at the coming of Jesus, “prepare to meet your God” (Amos 4:12). 184,000 people die each day is what I read. One day, you and I will be included in that number. We came from our mother’s womb with nothing and that is how we will leave this planet… with nothing.
The Good News is that Jesus took the penalty for our sin at the cross and rose again, proving Himself to be the Son of God (Romans 1:4). “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13) and receive the gift of God which is eternal life with Him and all who love Him (Romans 6:23). We will be in the perfect Place where death will not exist, nor anything negative we know here. Thank You Dear Father for this promise.
