BE FAITHFUL TO JESUS’ COMMAND/CALL ON OUR LIFE!

Amos answered Amaziah, “I was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but I was a shepherd, and I also took care of sycamore-fig trees. But the Lord took me from tending the flock and said to me, ‘Go…’ —Amos 7:14-15

Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy.  Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them. —Psalm 126:5-6

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go…” —Matthew 28:18-19

Jesus said to us “Come, follow me” and He would “make you fishers of men.”  What were you doing when Jesus called you?  How were you occupying yourself when our Father drew you to Jesus?  Amos “was neither a prophet nor the son of a prophet, but (he) was a shepherd, and (he) also took care of sycamore-fig trees. But the Lord took (him) from tending the flock and said to (him), ‘Go…’

What were you doing when our Lord called you?  I know exactly where I was and what I was doing.  I was in the military, the Seabees as a heavy equipment operator and on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.  That is when He clearly called me to start this journey with Him that I have now been on for 44 years.  Wow… 44 years out of the 68 years I have been alive!

Jesus called us when we were doing what we were doing to be goers “and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  That became our life’s mission and focus.  Are you and I being faithful to that mission?  What have you done this week that lines up with that mission?  Have you been in contact with “Mission Control” regularly for direction?  Then are you carrying out what He has directed you to be and do?  Are you on “mission?”  May it be so!

If we are sowing God’s Word as He has directed us to do so, there will be a harvest.  That is what He does with His Word.  So, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9).  Trust God to accomplish what He desires to do in and through Your life as Amos did.  I am sure Amos was more “comfortable” with husbandry and an arborist.  But when God called him to be a prophet, he faithfully obeyed.  Will we obey in the disciple-making calling He has given to us?  Dear Father, may we be faithful to the call on our lives by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in that authority of Your Son Jesus.  Oh, yes, may we be faithfully obedient to Your call on our lives, the lives You have given us!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKT5BCmvmq0
