HE IS MY CREATOR AND SUSTAINER
A voice says, “Cry!” And I said, “What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades when the breath of the LORD blows on it; surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. —Isaiah 40:6-8
Behold, the nations are like a drop from a bucket, and are accounted as the dust on the scales; behold, he takes up the coastlands like fine dust… All the nations are as nothing before him, they are accounted by him as less than nothing and emptiness. —Isaiah 40:15, 17
Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness. —Isaiah 40:21-23
Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. —Isaiah 40:28-31
Consider this— people are as grass that are here for only a brief time. Nations before our Lord God Almighty are like a drop from a bucket, like dust on scales, like fine dust, like nothing, like less than nothing and emptiness. Wow… do we get an idea who our Lord God Almighty is and who we are in comparison?
We inhabitants of they earth are like grasshoppers to Him and the heavens a curtain and tent that He has stretched out. The princes of this world are as nothing to Him and the rulers of this world are as emptiness to Him. Wow… are we putting that into perspective? Our Lord God Almighty is in control! So, don’t fret!
Our Lord God Almighty, the Creator and Sustainer of all, does not grow faint or weary. Imagine that! We do grow faint and weary, don’t we? But He does not and His understanding is unsearchable. We can only know what He has revealed to us. In John 20:30-31 we read that “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name” (John 20:30-31). He has given us His Word that we need now and we are to adhere to it!
It is He who gives us power and strength. It is not just older people who grow “faint and weary. Young people also do, but for those who “wait for the Lord” they will have their strength renew by Him. They will “run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” So, let us wait on our Lord God Almighty, the Creator and Sustainer of all things. He can do whatever He desires. So trust Him to accomplish that which He desires to in and through Your life. Also look forward to the day we will be with Him forever and never grow faint or weary again! (Revelation 21:1-7).
