OUR MERCIFUL LORD

OUR MERCIFUL LORD

He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. —Psalm 103:10-19

So many people do not understand that our Lord “does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.”  We deserve judgment and hell forever because of our sin, but His steadfast love is great toward all those who fear Him.  He does not give us what we deserve.  He does not “repay us according to our iniquities.”  If He did, we would be doomed forever.

But for all those who have called on Jesus to be saved (Romans 10:13), “as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.”  In other words, He has eternally and forever removed the sins of those who have called on Jesus to save them!  Travel east and you will never travel west, travel west and you will never travel east.  You will just keep going around and around the planet forever.  How grateful am I that He did not say, “as far as the south is from the north…”  Travel south and you will eventually start going north after 12,000 miles or travel north and you will eventually start going south after 12,000 miles.  But praise God that He has removed out sin “as far as the east is from the west” —forever gone!

He is compassionate toward us as a father has compassion toward his children.  He knows our life here on earth is brief, but for all those who have called on Jesus “the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.”  Those who have called on Jesus can have a positive effect on their children and grandchildren as they faithfully follow our Lord and for all that follow Him, we will be with Him in glory in the future.

Our Lord is Sovereign over all and we can trust Him to carry out His Word.  Let us be faithful to Him as our first priority in life and then encourage our children, our grandchildren and whoever else we can to be faithfully living for Him as well.  His Kingdom is an everlasting Kingdom and when this life is over we will be with Him and all who love Him forever.  Oh, Dear Father, what a joyous future we have ahead of us… forever.  Until then, may we faithful live according to Your plans and purposes in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnkkZLdjf9Y
