DISOBEDIENCE TO OUR LORD CAN ONLY LEAD TO EVIL
But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? —Judges 2:2
And all that generation also were gathered to their fathers. And there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel. And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD and served the Baals. —- Judges 2:10-11
And the people of Israel did what was evil in the sight of the LORD. They forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asheroth. —- Judges 3:7
What do people do when they do not obey the voice of the Lord? Well, when people do not obey Him they are in rebellion and they are capable of all kinds of evil.
It is sad that after Joshua died and all of his generation that, “there arose another generation after them who did not know the LORD or the work that he had done for Israel.” Apparently, the next generation was not discipled— they were not taught of all the Lord had done in Israel’s history. And, apparently, they were not taught the Word of God and how to apply His Word to life. What happened? Because of not being discipled, they did not know the Lord— they forgot the Lord. When that happens something else will fill that void and so they served “doctrines of demons” (I Timothy 4:1). The same thing happens in our day when people “forget the Lord.” They will fill that void with some sort of demonic teaching. We are either doing God’s will or the devil’s will (II Timothy 2:26).
This evil that rebellious people do are doing it right “in the sight of the LORD.” This shows the propensity man has to do evil when not following our Lord God Almighty. They do not care that He knows, that He sees. This is clearly seen in our age. Children are aborted to the demonic spirit of convenience— they do not want to bring a child into the world for selfish reasons. There is no way around that. There is some selfish, perverted thinking that causes one to abort a child. Sexual perversions are rampant as restraints are thrown off and demonic motivations increase. Lawlessness is increasing and seems to be encouraged by many so they can hold onto their power positions to promote further perversions. Our nation and world are a sinful, Satanic mess. Man’s choices brought this about. This is not God’s fault, it is man’s fault! But this is why Jesus came— to rescue all who call on His Name (Romans 10:13). Brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, we are seeking to be lovingly obedient to our Lord and Savior, Jesus. So let us not be disheartened. Let us rest in the power of God to accomplish His desires in and through us to rescue others from this present dark world. Yes, just as the Lord rescued us, so to He will rescue others. Allow Him to work in and through you to be involved in His rescue plans for others. Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Precious Son Jesus.
