WHO JESUS IS!
WHO JESUS IS!
Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of uprightness; you have loved righteousness and hated wickedness. Therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions. —Psalm 45:6-7
But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.” He also says, “In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.” —Hebrews 1:8-12
So, there you have it— Jesus mentioned in Psalm 45:6-7. Not only is He mentioned in the Old Testament, but these verses give not doubt as to Who Jesus is! He is God. His throne/rule is for ever and ever. He is the Son. He rules with justice. He loves righteousness. He hates wickedness. He is the Creator. He will end and change the creation in the future. Wow… this is who Jesus is!
Over and over again throughout God’s Word we understand more and more who Jesus is. In Proverbs 30:4-6 we read this—
Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Whose hands have gathered up the wind? Who has wrapped up the waters in a cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his son? Surely you know! “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him. Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
This speaks of Jesus coming to earth and ascending to Heaven. Again, it speaks to the Son and the Father as Creators. This is quoted in John 3:13—
“I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” —John 3:12-15
Here the verse is clearly connected with Jesus being lifted up on the cross and that everyone who looks to Him will receive eternal life. So, there is no doubt as to Who Jesus is according to the Word of God. It is only a matter if people will receive and accept the message or reject it. It is up to you and me, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, to bring the message to them. Then it is their responsibility as to what they do with it.
Dear Father I am so grateful to You for showing me Who Jesus is, what He did on the cross and that by calling on His Name He saved me from sin, Satan and judgment to, instead, eternal life with Him and all who love Him. I am so thankful, joyful that I know my future. Now may I bring the message to others by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus that they too may know.
