LIVE ACCORDING TO GOD’S WORD AND NOT THE WORLD’S WAYS!

And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, I am the LORD your God. You shall not do as they do in the land of Egypt, where you lived, and you shall not do as they do in the land of Canaan, to which I am bringing you. You shall not walk in their statutes. You shall follow my rules and keep my statutes and walk in them. I am the LORD your God. You shall therefore keep my statutes and my rules; if a person does them, he shall live by them: I am the LORD. —Leviticus 18:1-5

Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10:10).  Once we come through the gate (Jesus) for salvation (John 10:7) then we “hold to (His) teaching” showing we “are really (His) disciples. Then (we) will know the truth, and the truth will set (us) free” (John 8:31-32).  This is how we experience a full life.

Fellow follower of Jesus, brother and sister, we find true freedom as we walk in His Word and are not conformed to the culture around us (Romans 12:1-2).  We first must offer our lives up to God and not allow the world system to dictate how we live.  It is only then will our minds be renewed and our lives transformed and we live free.

We are not to do as they do in the world.  Our allegiance is to God and what He says.  That is to be our first priority and when it is so, then we will experience life to the fullest.  To allow ourselves to be conformed to the things of this world actually lessens the ability to live a full life for Jesus.

The people of Israel often went along with the culture of those around them and they wound up in bondage.  Sometimes in bondage to those who would do them harm and sometimes just in bondage to themselves, doing themselves harm.  When we do not live according to God’s Word, we actually not only harm ourselves, but others as well by not being and doing what we could be being and doing if we were adhering to His Word.  When not living according to God’s Word we are not helping ourselves nor are we helping others.  We will be doing more harm than good even though the world may approve of us.

True life comes in knowing God through Jesus and being lovingly obedient to Him because of His great love for us (John 17:3; John 14:21; I John 4:10, 19).  To know His love is to love Him and to have a desire to be faithful to He has to say.  This is our first priority as a follower of Jesus—- “’Love  the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  This is the first and greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:37-38) and Jesus said, “You are my friends if you do what I command” (John 15:14).  So let us hold to His Word, showing our love for Him and let us not be conformed to the culture around us.

We cannot accept the world’s viewpoints on the perversion of  marriage, the perversion of gender, the atrocity of abortion, the perversion of financial debt, the perversion of human trafficking, the perversion of borderless nations, the perversion of lawlessness, the perversion of tyranny, the perversion of drug dealing/addiction/overdoses/slaughter, the perversion of deceptive communication, the perversion of health care decline, the perversion of economic manipulation, the perversion of educational indoctrination, the perversion of government corruption, the perversion of injustices, the perversion of media…  No, we cannot accept the world’s perversions.  Instead, we accept what God says in these areas and He speaks to these areas and so many others.  His Word will be the final Word!

So Father, please help me to cling to what You have to say, to live according to Your Word and not according to the perversions of the world.  May this be so through the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Precious Son Jesus.  Yes, so may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLX83HbefrI
