ENABLED AND GIFTED TO DO HIS WORK

ENABLED AND GIFTED TO DO HIS WORK

Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer. —Exodus 35:30-35

This Moses did; according to all that the LORD commanded him, so he did. —Exodus 40:16

Building the tabernacle was such an intricate work that required great skill.  Our Lord directed Moses how to build the tabernacle and Moses oversaw the work.  But the Lord also “has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan.”

So our Lord pulled a team together to do the work.  Both Bezalel and Oholiab were also inspired to teach their skills to others.  So, it was not just Moses, Bezalel and Oholiab that were doing the work, but others were taught and prepared to help as well.  Then all the people were to give supplies for the work to be done.  So, workers were prepared to do the labor and suppliers were to provide the resources for the workers.  Each one did their part and the work was completed.

The same is true today.  Jesus gave specific gifts, mentioned in Ephesians 4:11-13 “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”  Then “to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (I Corinthians 12:7).  So, in the Body of Christ, the Church, there are those the Lord has gifted to encourage others in the work God has given them with the gifts they have been given.

So the questions are— Are you and I being faithful with gifts He has given us?  Are we doing the work He has called us to do?  Will we be faithful in the work our Lord has given us as  Moses, Bezalel, Oholiab and all the people were in building the tabernacle?  Dear Father, may it be so!  May we be faithful in the gifts and abilities You have given us to do the work You have called us to.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZYkZE8AogDE
