FELLOW FOLLOWER OF JESUS— YOUR SIN IS CANCELLED BY HIM!

For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.  Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. —Hebrews 9:24-26

            Sin has no power over those who have called on Jesus to save them from it.  For those who have called on Him their sin is cancelled! 

“Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?” —Luke 7:41-42

            Oh, how we should love Him when we understand what He has forgiven everyone who has called on His Name to save them from sin!

And David speaks likewise of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “And David speaks likewise of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are they whose lawless acts are forgiven, whose sins are covered.  Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.” —Romans 4:6-8

            Jesus does not “offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world.”  No, what Jesus did was to offer Himself “once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” Jesus went “into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf.”  This truth has set us free!
