BE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS!
BE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS!
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and he shall reign as king and deal wisely, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. —Jeremiah 23:5
For the land is full of adulterers; because of the curse the land mourns, and the pastures of the wilderness are dried up. Their course is evil, and their might is not right. “Both prophet and priest are ungodly; even in my house I have found their evil, declares the LORD. Therefore their way shall be to them like slippery paths in the darkness, into which they shall be driven and fall, for I will bring disaster upon them in the year of their punishment, declares the LORD. —Jeremiah 23:10-12
Let the prophet who has a dream tell the dream, but let him who has my word speak my word faithfully. What has straw in common with wheat? declares the LORD. Is not my word like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces? —Jeremiah 23:28-29
But ‘the burden of the LORD’ you shall mention no more, for the burden is every man’s own word, and you pervert the words of the living God, the LORD of hosts, our God. —Jeremiah 23:36
You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier gets entangled in civilian pursuits, since his aim is to please the one who enlisted him. An athlete is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. It is the hard-working farmer who ought to have the first share of the crops. Think over what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in everything. —II Timothy 2:1-7
Remember Jesus Christ, risen from the dead, the offspring of David, as preached in my gospel, for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal. But the word of God is not bound! —II Timothy 2:8-9
If we are going to wind up in prison or suffer some other form of persecution, let it be for preaching the gospel. We may suffer and be bound as a prisoner like Paul was, but God’s Word is not bound in any situation. He will accomplish what He desires because His Word is “like fire, declares the LORD, and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” Yes, His Word will accomplish what He desires. We are to be faithful to His Righteous Branch, Jesus. He will set all things right and execute justice one day. We can be sure of that!
The present age we live is full of adulterers, evil doers that affect the land negatively. They abuse their power and this evil is not only in government, but has also come in among the church. Many preach their own words as the “burden of the Lord.” They are on slippery paths and our Lord will bring disaster upon them. They need to repent and turn to Him before it is too late. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM
Fellow follower of Jesus, we need to preach the Word which is the “burden of the Lord.” Be strong in “the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” Entrust to “faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” This is what our Lord has commanded— “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). We are to “make disciple” that are obedient to Jesus. Like the soldier we are to keep focused on this and not be distracted from this main purpose. Like the athlete we are to persevere according to His Word in “the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). And we are to be hard-working as the farmer focuses on his chores ahead of, and for, the harvest. Please help me through Your Spirit and Your Son, Dear Father, to be the light in the darkness that You desire. Yes, may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VokFYLIew4
