OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY CONTROLS CLIMATE!
Therefore the showers have been withheld, and the spring rain has not come; yet you have the forehead of a whore; you refuse to be ashamed. —Jeremiah 3:3
Man’s sin can bring the consequence of changed weather patterns upon themselves. It is very clear from the verse above that our Lord can and does withhold rain because of man’s sin. The rain is controlled by Him and He keeps if from raining if He so desires. In the case above it is withheld because of the people’s “whoredom.” They have no shame and refuse to be ashamed at the evil they are doing. So, God withholds rain as a judgment.
Our Lord makes it rain and He makes it to snow— “He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth,’ and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour’” (Job 37:6). Climate does “whatever He commands” (Job 37:12). He also uses climate for His purposes— “He brings the clouds to punish people, or to water his earth and show his love (Job 37:13). God is the ultimate climate controller, not man.
This world is not going to end until God says so. But… things are going to get really bad when He brings judgment— “The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up” (Revelation 8:7). Yes, things are going to get really bad and it is because of man’s sin,
Man can come up with all kinds of ideas and put forth their fearful, false foresights and narratives, but God is the one who has the final say. It is He who will have the final actions when it comes to controlling climate, not man.
Read Genesis chapters 6-8 and consider who was and is in control of the climate. Nothing has changed “And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done. “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:21-22). “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life” (Genesis 9:13-15).
Brother and sister, fellow follower of Jesus, let us take courage and comfort in knowing our Lord God Almighty is ultimately in control of the climate. Beware of those who say otherwise. They obviously are not adhering to what God has to say. We are to be good stewards of God’s creation, but we do not control His creation. He controls it! Dear Father I am so grateful that this is the case and that I can trust You fully for what You are doing.
