GOD’S WORK/OUR WORK

GOD’S WORK/OUR WORK

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! —Psalm 8

Look into the heavens.  Consider the moon and stars.  Our Lord has set these all in place.  The vastness of the universe and everything in it is the work of His fingers.  Man and his existence take up such a minute part of God’s creation.

I am astounded at the greatness of God and that He would even be mindful of me, that He would even consider me.  As is said in the book of Job— “I too was pinched off from a piece of clay” (Job 33:6).  We will all “return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return” (Genesis 1:19).  And yet, God cares for us!  The Creator is very concerned for His creation!

Angels are greater that we are.  They are heavenly beings and yet we are told that God has crowned us “with glory and honor.”  Amazingly God has given us dominion over the work of His hands.  All things He has put under our feet— the animals, the birds, the fish and all of earth.  We are to be responsible stewards of His creation and will give an account to Him one day.

So “we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10).  It was His plan to “redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good” (Titus 2:14).  What is that work God has for you?  The One whose works we see every day— the creation of His hands— has work for us.  How are you working in the work God has given you to work?  Amazing that He entrusts us with His work and works along with us to accomplish what He desires to do in and through our lives!  Let us be faithful in His work and may we have the same mindset as Jesus when He said, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work” (John 4:34).  May we finish well what He has given us to do.  Yes, may this be the case!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIpnW3rtRQ4

Dear Father it truly astounds me that You would even consider me, but that is Who You are.  You are far above us and far beyond us.  Thank You for loving me and giving me responsibility in Your creation.  May I be faithful to fulfill what You desire.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
