LIVE ACCORDING TO GOD’S PRESCRIBED MANNER

It was because you, the Levites, did not bring it up the first time that the Lord our God broke out in anger against us. We did not inquire of him about how to do it in the prescribed way.” —I Chronicles 15:13

            Because the ark of God was not carried the proper way the first time—

When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act; therefore God struck him down, and he died there beside the ark of God. Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah. —II Samuel 6:6-8

            Yes, the anger of the Lord broke out and one man died because they did not carry the ark in the way God had prescribed.  When God’s instructions are not carried out things will not end well.  If we are not obedient to Him and do things our own way then we will suffer the consequences.  Sorrow, death and destruction will follow disobedience.

            The same, of course is true today.  In whatever way we do not want to follow God’s Word then things will not end well.  This is true for an individual or a nation… or even the world.  God’s Word is clear how this planet’s existence is going to end.  The future painted for us in vivid reality throughout the book of Revelation shows things not ending well at all— except for those who know Jesus.

            Rebellion against God is futile and this rebellious world will be concluded when His patience runs out with it.  We are a world of death.  Millions upon millions of babies are slaughtered in the womb.  You think God is not watching?  The cheapness of life now extends outside the womb and why would it not?  If you teach against God’s Word in our schools, colleges, universities and encourage a materialistic existence, then why does it matter if there are mass shootings?  Isn’t it survival of the fittest?  Is that not the major philosophy of the irreligious?  Why do people get upset when these mass shootings take place?  They do not get upset at the slaughter of babies in the womb.  No… we have been promoting the culture of death and seeking to be free from God and His Word.  This is what we get (Romans 1:18-32).

            We do not want to live according to God’s way, then we will reap the harvest of the devil who has people not thinking right, has trapped them and “has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  These mass shootings are satanic just as abortion is and “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (I Peter 5:8).  The more godless a nation becomes, the more wickedness will increase— “Because the sentence against an evil deed is not executed speedily, the heart of the children of man is fully set to do evil” (Ecclesiastes 8:11).  Corruption and abuse of a justice system will only cause corruption and abuse to increase.  Yes, when we don’t want to live by God’s Word, we will reap an evil harvest by our own hand or satanic influence.  Do not expect things to get better without a returning— a repentance and turning to God.

            Brothers and sisters, regardless of how dark times may be or get, let us shine for Jesus and encourage people out of the darkness and into His marvelous light.  He is our only Hope in this life and for the life to come.  Praise God, follower of Jesus, the best is yet to come and it will be forever and ever!  Be faithful according to His Word and do not become “weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Keep running (Hebrews 12:1-2).
