TRUST AND FEAR NOT!

TRUST AND FEAR NOT!

Then Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “So may the gods do to me and more also, if I do not make your life as the life of one of them by this time tomorrow.” hen he was afraid, and he arose and ran for his life. —I Kings 19:2-3

It is amazing how God gives great victory and overcomes the obstacles in our lives for us and we soon forget His workings.  How is it that when our life is threatened we become fearful and run for our lives?  Even though we have seen Him work in the past!

Think about all our Lord has done in our lives— from the time He saved us from sin and a relationship to Him until now.  Reflect on what He has done and is doing.  Why would you be afraid of anyone?  “Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe” (Proverbs 29:25).  A snare holds an animal, captures an animal so it can no longer live free to be what it was designed to be and do.  So fear of man holds a man, captures a man so he will no longer be free to what he was designed to be and do.  What are you afraid of?  “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Instead of being gripped by fraid grab hold of fear’s antidote— “but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.”  That is what we need to do when fear seeks to snare us.  Trust the Lord because there is safety in doing so.  Those snared are held bound and are open prey for destruction by others… just as an animal is that is snared.  They have no defense.  So it is with us.  Fear of man and not trusting in our Lord breaks down our defenses and could lead to all kinds of problems.  The biggest problem is getting our eyes off the Lord onto man or circumstances and not trusting the Lord.  When we do not trust our Lord then we are already in great trouble.

Fearful today?  Trust our Lord God Almighty.  We are safe in Him.  He is ultimately in control.  He will guide us as He has promised (Psalm 32:8; Proverbs 3:5-6).  Spend time with Him and He will prepare you for the day ahead (Isaiah 50:4).  Yes, listen to Him, trust in Him, lovingly obey Him and He will direct!

Dear Father please help me to trust You for all situations.  May I not fear man but put my trust in You and may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0gu0nOaFsI
