LOVE OBEYS OUR LORD IN ACTION, NOT JUST WORDS

LOVE OBEYS OUR LORD IN ACTION, NOT JUST WORDS

Just as the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did. He left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses. —Joshua 11:15

I can say I love my Lord, but those words may only be just words unless there are actions that live out those words.  It is just like I can say I have faith, but if there are no actions to back up what I say then they are just words vainly spoken (James 2:14-26).  Words, speeches whether written or spoken are only just words, speeches at a point in time that mean nothing unless there are actions actively applying what was said or written.

Liars say one thing, write one thing and yet do not do them or do something totally different.  Those who make promises and then do not carry them out are not trustworthy.  Beware of them.  These can be political leaders, church leaders, business leaders— any leader or non-leader!

Moses sought to be obedient to our Lord.  OK, he was not perfect in this, but that was his overall heart’s desire— his life’s goal.  So too did Joshua seek to be obedient to our Lord.  Again, he was not absolutely perfect in this, but that also was his heart’s/life’s desire.  Both of these leaders showed their love and their faith by their obedience.  Loving faith/belief obeys while lack of loving faith/belief disobeys.

We are told by Jesus in John 14:21 that “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”  To love God is to obey God that is clear in God’s Word just as we read in I John 5:1-5—

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.”

Are you leavening something undone that our Lord has called you to do?  Why?  To love our Lord is to be obedient to Him.  May you and I love him by obeying what He desires us to be and do.   Yes Father and may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUxI-ynsTnM
