SALVATION ONLY THROUGH GOD’S SON!
Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?” “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” —Mark 14:61-62
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son? —Matthew 22:41-44
There is no doubt as to Who Jesus is. God’s Word is clear. He is the Messiah that was promised to come. He is the Son of the Blessed One. This was His claim and the high priest understood this and condemned Jesus for blasphemy. One day, as Jesus said, “you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”
When Jesus asked the religious leaders of that day— “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.”’ If then David calls him ‘Lord,’ how can he be his son?” They could not reply. They did not understand.
They knew that the Messiah would be David’s son, David’s descendant, but they did not understand that the Messiah would also be Lord. What was the answer? “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known” (John 1:18). This is what they did not understand and that is why they wanted to kill Him.
Jesus was none other than the Eternal Son of God. He it was that took care of the eternal sin problem. Only He could do so and He did. Now anyone who calls on His Name to be saved will be saved and forgiven of their sin and have eternal life. Only Jesus could do that. There is no other (Acts 4:12).
Dear Father I thank You for Jesus willing come to this earth to take the penalty and punishment for the sin of the whole world so whoever calls on Him will be saved. I thank You for saving me.
