A LAND POLLUTED

A LAND POLLUTED

“‘Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it. Do not defile the land where you live and where I dwell, for I, the Lord, dwell among the Israelites.’” —Numbers 34:33-34

The United States is one polluted land!  So many are concerned for the environment not to be polluted and we are to be good stewards of God’s Creation.  Unfortunately we have Creation worshippers rather than worshippers of the Creator.  They are more concerned with their relationship to the environment than they are with their relationship or non-relationship with the Creator of all things— heaven and earth.

There is a worse pollution, much worse than that of polluting the environment.  It is polluting the land with bloodshed.  This serious matter of pollution is taken way too lightly.  Those shedding blood do “get away with murder.”  Whether it is the abortionist that slaughters a child in the womb (or out of the womb) or whether it is one person killing another person —it is murder.  We are a murderous society and it is being flamed by the lawlessness activity of politicians.  Whether they do this ignorantly or intentionally these politicians are encouraging the reckless taking of life by not holding lawbreakers accountable.  They will be held accountable by our Lord.

The government is to do good and protect it’s citizens.  They are to be a servant of God for good.  The government has a responsibility because—

“Whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and you will be commended. For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also as a matter of conscience. —Romans 13:2-5

Government exists, in part, to be a deterrent to those who would break the law.  There are some in our government that want to do away with their responsibility to be that deterrent by allowing lawbreakers to go free without punishment.  Instead of holding the lawbreakers accountable many government officials want to blame society instead.  God’s Word is clear— “When the sentence for a crime is not quickly carried out, people’s hearts are filled with schemes to do wrong” (Ecclesiastes 8:11).  And that is exactly what is happening today.  Not punishing lawbreakers fans the flames for more lawbreaking.

There is an intentional destabilization taking place in our country.  To what purpose?  When a country is in chaos many people will resign to most anything to become somewhat stable again.  This is how tyrants gain a foothold.  They will do anything as “rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them (those they rule), and their superiors exercise authority over them (those they rule)” (Mark 10:42). They are interested in power and authority and not for the people they rule over.  People they rule over are just a means to an end.  Pray for our nation!

Dear Father may You guide our leaders to do the right thing before You.  This is why they are in office— to do what is right.  May You guide them by the power of Your Holy Spirit and by the authority of Your Son.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3M3nnD8xKw
