YOUR STORY OF HIS WORK

YOUR STORY OF HIS WORK

As he was getting into the boat, the man who had been possessed with demons begged him that he might be with him. And he did not permit him but said to him, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” —Mark 5:18-19

As we read the context of the verses above we find out that this demon possessed man: lived among the tombs, could not be restrained with a chain, had broken chains and shackles, nobody could subdue him because of his strength, cried out night and day among the tombs and on the mountains and was cutting himself with stones.  This man was in such a terrible, demonic situation.

By His Word Jesus released the man from the demons.  He drove the demons out of the man commanding them to leave and they did.  When the people saw that the 2000 pigs, which the demons went into, raced down the hill into the water and drown, they told the townspeople.  The townspeople begged Jesus to leave their region after hearing the detail account of what happened.

As Jesus was leaving the deeply grateful and formerly demon possessed man wanted to go with Him.  He wanted to be with Jesus, but Jesus had a mission for Him.  He said to the man, “Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”  How did the man respond?  He did not just go to his friends to tell them what Jesus had done for him, but went about a region of 10 cities to bear witness (Mark 5:20).  The people were amazed when they heard what Jesus had done for him.

At one time you and I who have trusted Jesus were once in need of coming to our senses, repenting and coming to knowledge of the truth.  We needed to escape from the trap of the devil who had us captive to do his will (II Timothy 2:25-26).  “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17).  All who have trusted Jesus heard the message about Him and responded (Romans 10:13).  Like the demon possessed man, we also were released from Satan’s hold on us.

Since we have much to be grateful for, are we being obedient to where Jesus has sent us to bear witness of what He has done for us?  Is it our desire to spend time with Him and to do what He desires of us?  Who have you recently told your story of what Jesus has done in your life?  Oh, that we would share with someone today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yBzIt_z8oY

Dear Father please show me today who You desire me to share what You have done in my life.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it.
