OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK!

OPEN YOUR EYES AND LOOK!

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” —Matthew 9:36-38

Ok, there are few things we learn about the harvest—

  • Lost people have Jesus’ compassion
  • Lost people are harassed
  • Lost people are helpless
  • Lost people are like sheep without a shepherd
  • The harvest is plentiful among lost people
  • The workers in the harvest for lost people are few
  • Jesus is the Lord of the harvest
  • Ask Jesus to send out workers into the harvest field
  • The harvest field belongs to Jesus

We are specifically told by Jesus to focus prayer on sending people into His harvest field because it is plentiful, it is ripe for harvest.  Oh, that we would be doing this!  Also, do we have eyes to “see” the crowds?  The crowds Jesus is compassionate about.  The crowds that are harassed.  The crowds that are helpless.  The crowds that do not have a shepherd.  The crowds that are lost.  The crowds where the harvest is plentiful.  The crowds that need workers.  The crowds that belong to Jesus…

Jesus saw the harvest and He told His disciples to “open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest” (John 4:35).  Are our eyes open?  Are we looking at the fields?  Do we believe they are ripe for harvest?  Oh, may it be so and that our actions would follow that we truly believe this!

Dear Father may I be a worker in the harvest field.  Oh, that You would bring a harvest as I go out into it.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu9g4U_OeoY
