So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. —II Corinthians 4:16-18

Don’t lose heart! Keep your focus! Grow in Jesus as you are being renewed day by day in Your inner self. This happens as we spend time with our Lord day by day.   We are to be disciplined and consistent with our time with Him. Are you?

These light and momentary afflictions that we go through are “preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.” These afflictions that we experience do have purpose.   They do have reason behind them.   We do not understand the full implications of that now, but we will in glory! Yes, this temporary body breaks down, but our eternal body never will!

So what is your focus? Is it on the seen or unseen? Is it on those things that are transient or on the things that are eternal? The answers to those questions truly indicate who you are and what is really important to you.

Yes it is true. These bodies are breaking down. They are “wasting away.” But what truly matters is who you are on the inside— it is not the tent but the life in the tent. One day that body tent will be vacated and the inner you will be in glory with Jesus and all who love Him. So let us not lose heart with all the aches and pains that may come upon us or all the bodily ailments we may face. Instead, let us look to the unseen things, the things beyond all comparison, the things that are preparing us for glory. Yes, let us look to those things. Don’t lose focus!

Dear Father I thank You that the difficulties here have not comparisons to the glory ahead. May I be focused on Your desires here until I get there. May it be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So be it!
