FAITH/BELIEF IN JESUS THROUGH THE HEARING/READING OF HIS WORD

FAITH/BELIEF IN JESUS THROUGH THE HEARING/READING OF HIS WORD

Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. —Romans 10:17

Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. —John 20:31

Faith/belief and eternal life comes through hearing or reading the message about Jesus and coming to the conclusion that He is the Messiah, the Son of God.  It is that simple!  There are not a bunch of hoops to jump through— “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast” (Ephesians 2:8-10).  There is nothing we can do to be saved from sin and saved to a relationship with God through Jesus except trust the finished work of Jesus at the cross.  Jesus is the only way to be saved (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).

Even though we are saved from sin and have eternal life through faith/belief in the spoken/written word about Jesus, there will be evidence of repentance by the deeds now done.  We are not saved by deeds done, but deeds done now bear evidence that we have truly turned to God and are living for Him (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; James 2:14-26).  So… if you were to appear in court and were to be tried for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you of being a Christian?

As a follower of Jesus and knowing that a person has to hear/read God’s Word about Jesus to be saved, what am I doing to bring this Word to others?  If I really believe that it is only though hearing/reading God’s Word that a person can be saved, am I bringing His Word to those who do not know it… to those who do not know Jesus?  As a follower of Jesus… am I really following Jesus if I am not bringing His Word to others?  Was it not Jesus who said that He if we follow Him He would make us “fishers of men” (Matthew 4:19) and disciple-makers (Matthew 28:19-20)?  Was it not also Jesus who said that “he who has my commands and keep them, he it is that loves me” John 14:21)?  Are we not to love God with our whole being and our neighbor as ourselves (Matthew 22:37-40)?  Am I not being disobedient and unloving if I am not seeking to share the spoken/written Word with others?  Oh, let us be sharing His Word with others so they can come to a point of faith/believe and have eternal life and live for Him now and be with Him forever!  Yes, dear Father may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1yBzIt_z8oY   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEhRucEVzH8
