READY TO DIE, READY TO LIVE

READY TO DIE, READY TO LIVE

For I am ready not only to be imprisoned but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.  —Acts 21:13

What is your commitment level to Jesus?  Paul was ready to be imprisoned for the Name of Jesus.  Not only that, but Paul was also ready to die for the Name of Jesus.  This is a challenge to me to consider how committed I am to Jesus.  Now, Paul wasn’t looking to die, but for Jesus he was willing to die.  Can I say that?

I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me. —Philippians 1:23-26

Wow… is this our mindset?  Paul was ready to die and be with Jesus.  His desire was to be with Jesus which he said “is better by far.”  But… for now it was needed that he continue to live.  Why?  It was for the progress and joy of others and the glory of God to be revealed through him to others.

So let me ask you a question.  What are the reasons you would give for living?  Are they selfish reasons or selfless reasons?  Are the reasons for your benefit or for the benefit of others?  Oh Dear Father may we see that our reason for being here is for the benefit of others and may we have a servant’s heart.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qVr9ri2XQ0
