GOD IS IN CONTROL!
GOD IS IN CONTROL!
But a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate. Therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded.” And the battle continued that day, and the king of Israel was propped up in his chariot facing the Syrians until evening. Then at sunset he died. —II Chronicles 18:33-34
“O LORD, God of our fathers, are you not God in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. In your hand are power and might, so that none is able to withstand you. —II Chronicles 20:6
…for the battle is not yours but God’s. —II Chronicles 20:15
For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another. —Psalm 75:6
As we look at the world’s circumstances do we wonder who is really in control? Well, remember this— “the battle is not yours but God’s.” It is He who executes judgment. He puts one down and lifts another up. He rules “over all the kingdoms of the nations” and in His hand “are power and might, so that none is able to withstand” Him. What might seem at times to be random and out of control is actually being directed by Him just as “a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate.” That arrow which killed the king of Israel was directed by our Lord to the spot He intended it to go. As He did with that arrow so He does with anything and anybody He desires.
In this sin sick world He is directing people and events according to His purposes for His glory and for His followers’ benefit— even though we might not understand everything. How could we understand all He is doing on this planet? He is so far above us that— “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 88:9). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x8TZiwPGa0 We can be absolutely sure that what may seem to us as out of control and chaotic, He is well aware and in control. This is so comforting to know.
So let us not be fearful or anxious. Instead, let us be of courage and restful in Him. Yes Dear Father may I trust You fully, knowing that You ultimately are in control and are working out all things according to Your plans and purposes. Please help me to be faithfully about Your business by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May it be so!
