DIFFICULTY… LOOK TO OUR LORD!

DIFFICULTY… LOOK TO OUR LORD!

To you I lift up my eyes, O you who are enthroned in the heavens! 2 Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their master, as the eyes of a maidservant to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the LORD our God, till he has mercy upon us. —Psalm 123:1-2

We look to the Lord, He who is enthroned in the heavens because He alone is ultimately in control of all things. He alone has our best interests in mind. He alone loves us with an everlasting love. He alone knows all things and is carrying out His plans and purposes. Yes, it is to Him we look. Man will fail us, but our Lord God will never fail us… never. We may not understand all that He is doing and why certain things happen, but how could we understand all He is doing unless He reveals it to us.   He is so far above us. We are so small. It is impossible for us to put together all that He is doing all over this planet to further His plans and purposes. We see bits and pieces, He sees the whole. We do not understand the pain and sorrow we suffer, but even that has purposes in His plans that we do not understand fully. We can understand to the extent He has revealed to us in His Word, but beyond that we will have to trust Him. This is part of what faith does— faith trusts Him with the things we do not understand and believe that He has our best interests in mind.   “Now faith is the assurance of what we hope for and the certainty of what we do not see. This is why the ancients were commended” and “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who approaches Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him” (Hebrews 11:1, 6). If you have not read through Hebrews chapter 11 recently, do so. It is a great reminder of all those in the chapter of past saints faith. Some are named and their faith victories mentioned while others are nameless but their faith is clearly seen by their actions.

Are you looking to Him even when you do not understand so much that is going on around you? Do you believe that He truly has your best interests in mind even with the pain and sorrow that you may be experiencing right now? Do you trust Him even when life plain and simply is not making sense right now? Consider Psalm 121—

I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.   He will not allow your foot to slip; your Protector will not slumber. Behold, the Protector of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.   The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is the shade on your right hand. The sun will not strike you by day, nor the moon by night.   The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve your soul. The LORD will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.

Dear Father I am so glad that I can trust You even when things do not make sense to me. I will trust You. Who else is there to turn to that is like You? There are none like You and I will cling to You. May I faithfully be living for You by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus.
