MY LORD HELPS ME!
I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. —Psalm 121:1-2
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). Such a brief statement, but for those who take His Word for what it is— His Word — this is a profound statement. Our mind cannot fathom His greatness. We cannot even fathom the vastness of the universe. How could we ever understand the enormity of who God is? All that we understand of Him He has revealed to us in His Word.
The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. —Psalm 19:1-6
God has proclaimed loudly in His creation that He exists. People can make any excuse they want, but the fact of the matter is clear— He is the Creator of all— “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).
He has shown His existence through the evidence of His creation. He has proved His existence through His Word. He has revealed His existence through His Son, Jesus. He has graciously revealed His power through all those who call on His Name. Yes, our Lord God Almighty has given us all we need to believe. People will either love Him and live for Him or they won’t and destiny forever is sealed by our choice— Heaven or Hell… forever! As I think of all this I take great comfort in knowing my “help comes from the Lord.” This Mighty One, the King of kings and the Lord of lords, Creator and Sustainer of all things is where my help comes from! Wow… I am so grateful. He… helps… me… Little me He cares about and helps. How awesome is this? How grand is this? Oh thank You my Father for always being there for me and helping me. People say they cannot believe the Bible because it was written by men. Like a pen in the hand of a letter writer so men were the pen in God’s hand. Men do not write letters, pens do as men guide them. Men did not write the Bible, men did as God guided them. Even though men say they cannot believe the Bible because “men wrote it” but how quick men are to believe every word that proceeds from the mouth of news pundits— people that supposedly proclaim truth. Many of these people are outright liars and deceivers and yet people will cling to their every word. Yeh… I will stick to God’s Word that is fully trust worthy over some self-proclaimed news “expert.” My help comes from the Lord! He is all I need to measure Truth.
