FEAR…
FEAR…
Saul was afraid of David because the LORD was with him but had departed from Saul. —I Samuel 18:12
But when Saul saw and knew that the LORD was with David, and that Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved him, Saul was even more afraid of David. So Saul was David’s enemy continually. —I Samuel 18:28-29
Isn’t it interesting that it was because the Lord was with David that Saul feared David? It was because of the fear of David that Saul tried several times to kill him. Fear can cause people to act in a violent way in reaction to the fear they have.
Think about it— when you fear something or someone— what is your emotion toward that something or person? You may not say you “hate” the something or someone, but you would surely say you don’t like the something or somebody. Fear can rise up wrong emotions and attitudes toward something or someone.
Think about this. What is it or who is it that you fear? Now what other emotions are there that you feel because of it?
Think also about this— there may be those who “fear” us just because the Lord is with us. They may hate us because they fear us. Let us be wise as we approach people to ease their fears as we seek to encourage them toward our Lord Jesus. Lord help us to help them to understand they need not fear.
Dear Father may I be wise and loving as I approach people who do not know You. May You give me the ability to ease people’s fears just because I know Jesus. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=viYe589KIcw
