WHO OR WHAT ARE YOU TRUSTING

But today you have rejected your God, who saves you from all your calamities and your distresses, and you have said to him, ‘Set a king over us.’ —I Samuel 10:19

They said to him, “You are old, and your sons do not follow your ways; now appoint a king to lead us, such as all the other nations have.”   But when they said, “Give us a king to lead us,” this displeased Samuel; so he prayed to the Lord. And the Lord told him: “Listen to all that the people are saying to you; it is not you they have rejected, but they have rejected me as their king. —I Samuel 8:5-7

Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles. —I Samuel 8:20

            How sad but this is still the case today. People want the government to “fight their battles.” So many see the government as their savior and they have rejected the Lord as their Savior and King. It is unfortunately that so many people have forgotten or rejected the Savior who is able to save them from all “calamities and your distresses.”

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. —Psalm 20:7

Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save. —Psalm 146:3

It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in humans. —Psalm 118:8

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe. —Proverbs 29:25

This is what the LORD says: “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who draws strength from mere flesh and whose heart turns away from the LORD. —Jeremiah 17:5

Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils. Why hold them in esteem? —Isaiah 2:22

Dear Father I will trust in You and seek to live for You. I will not put my full trust in man, in government, in media or anything else— not even myself. I will put my full trust in You and may I do so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus. Yes, I will wait on You above all.
