Yet in spite of this word you did not believe the LORD your God. —Deuteronomy 1:32
How quick people will believe what they hear from a TV or radio commentator without checking it out for themselves! And really, there is much that we cannot check out for ourselves because we do not have access to the person or first-hand information. Think about it. How much information do we get that is first-hand? How many people just believe what they hear without checking it out for themselves?
I am afraid that much of the information people have is just the biased regurgitation of today’s communication gods. What they say must be true! I have believed for a long time if you want to manipulate a people you will do it through media. Propaganda communication is nothing new, but do we not learn our lessons from other countries that have done this in history or even today?
Many are quick to grasp onto what a TV or radio communicator says, but how quick will they hold to what God says in His Word? Excuses such as “men wrote the Bible” are often claimed to dismiss the Bible. Was it men that wrote the Bible? When you write a letter, is it you that really “writes” the letter? No, it is the pen that actually is writing the letter. You convey the thoughts and movements to write the letter, but it is actually the ink in the pen that “writes” the letter. So too men “wrote” the Bible, but only as a pen in God’s hand. He conveyed the thoughts and movements for the men to write. So yes, men “wrote” the Bible, but only as they were moved by God to do so. He was working through them.
So there it is— the Bible, the Word of God. Will you read the love letter that God has given us through men? Will you believe what He has to say? Or, will you depend on the few men today who spout their biased opinions as journalistic commentary? For those who say they cannot believe the Bible because it was “written” by men, well, I question their intellectually argument when they trust those they do not know with the information they are receiving from them without checking it out. You can check out God’s Word by reading it and coming to a conclusion. God’s not concerned about argument. He puts forth the Truth of His Word. You can come to your own conclusion and you will live with that conclusion for eternity— in Heaven or Hell… depending on your conclusion.
“Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” —John 20:30-31
God’s commentary is ready for you to read. Will you? Or will you continue to listen to the feeble arguments of man? It is my hope and desire that you will read His Word.
