Your tongue plots destruction, like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. You love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right. Selah  You love all words that devour, O deceitful tongue.  —Psalm 52:2-4

We live in a fallen and sinful world. Let us not forget who the god of this world system is and what His goal is (II Corinthians 4:4). Satan hates God and he hates God’s people. He is out to destroy God’s people (I Peter 5:8) and he works through people who need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  Yes, every single person who does not know Jesus, who has not trusted Jesus, who have not called on His Name (Romans 10:13), are trapped by the devil, taken captive by the devil and they are doing the will of the devil.

Many of these people help captive by Satan look and act “good” from the human perspective, but they are still in captivity to Satan. Then there are those who are motivated by Satan to “plot destruction” and to work deceit. They “love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking what is right.” It is unfortunate, but that is what happens when guided by Satan.

What these verses are speaking about is not hard to see at all in our culture.   Go on Facebook and observe the evil and hateful things that are said there. Surely it is very evident that many people’s words are “like a sharp razor.”   They are very cutting and mean.   People just vent their destructive thoughts. It is very sad.

Yes, there is much speech in our time that is very destructive, but there is coming a time when all this will be gone. Brother and Sisters let us keep focused on the Prize… being with Jesus in that perfect place when life here has past. Shine for Him in this dark world (Matthew 5:14) and run well until you see Him (Hebrews 12:1-2). Yes Dear Father may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus!
