BE STILL

 BE STILL

The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent. —Exodus 14:14

What strength does man have?   “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God” (Psalm 20:7).  Man exalts himself because of his pride but “Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust” (Isaiah 40:15).

Pharaoh was prideful in his power and thought he could do as he pleased.   He would not listen to the Lord’s warnings communicated through his messengers— Moses and Aaron. No, his hard heart moved him against God’s people.   What could God’s people do? The Red Sea was before them and Pharaoh’s army was pressing in on them. They had no place to go!

Do you feel like that? You cannot see how you can move ahead. You cannot see anything good in front of you. Maybe you just need to be silent before the Lord and listen. As His child He will fight for our best interests according to His purposes. Will you trust Him for that?

The people complained to Moses about bringing them to a place where thought they would be slaughtered. They said it would have been better to have remained slaves in Egypt. This is where Moses said, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the LORD’s salvation, which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians you see today, you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still” (Exodus 14:13-14). The people believe their lives were coming to an end. They were hopeless. Moses redirected their focus. Look to the Lord when things look bleak. Look to the Lord at all times! He can be fully trusted.

Fellow follower of Jesus, you are a child of God. He will always do what is right for His children. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).  Do you believe that?   “Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:9-11).  Talk with Him, be still before Him, do the part He would have you do and then be still and He will do His part. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZK-gMDZQX0g Be still…

Dear Father I am so glad that I do not have to trust in my own strength, but I can rest in Your strength. I am grateful that You always have my best interest in mind and that You are carrying out Your plans and purposes. May I be in step with what You desire by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May it be so!
