LOOKING TO THE END THROUGH HOLY AND GODLY LIVING

LOOKING TO THE END THROUGH HOLY AND GODLY LIVING

And the angel whom I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and what is in it, the earth and what is in it, and the sea and what is in it, that there would be no more delay, 7 —Revelation 10:5-6

One day this will wrap up. One day the end of the age will here. One day the purpose for this present planet will be passing. One day…

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.   Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. —II Peter 3:8-13

I often hear people say, “I can’t wait until the Lord returns!” But as we are waiting “what kind of people ought you to be?” We are told that we are to live holy lives. We are to live godly lives. The coming of our Lord, knowing we will see Him, should stir us on to live like this. Are we?   May we be living lives of faithfulness in all that means… and there is much. We are told “You must be holy because I am holy” (I Peter 1:16). We are also told “to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age” (Titus 2:12). As we look toward the coming of Jesus it should motivate us to live these types of lives.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9OUHvDHv_IY

Dear Father this is my desire— to live a life that is honoring to You, a life that brings You glory. Oh, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
