OUR GOD DIRECTS IN THE AFFAIRS OF MEN

            A king, a president— Pharaoh, David, Donald Trump… Let us not forget who is ultimately in control. Our Lord God Almighty works through any person to accomplish His desires. Our Lord will turn a person’s heart as He desires.   We need not fret over a Nero or Stalin, Hitler or any tyrant. Our Lord is working out His plan even through their lives. Let us not forget this— whether a good leader or bad leader— God’s plan goes forward.

            Some leader may think it is by their great intellect or power that they do this or that. They may acknowledge God or not, but it does not matter who they are. God will work through their situation to do His will. Nobody, regardless of who they are can stand against the Lord or prevail against Him. At times we might ask “Why do the wicked live on, growing old and increasing in power?” (Job 21:7). Or, “Why does the wicked man revile God? Why does he say to himself, “He won’t call me to account?” (Psalm 10:13). But “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). God is working through it all and nobody is getting away with anything. Remember, brother and sister, follower of King Jesus, that we are already on the Victor’s side! Our home in heaven is guaranteed because of Jesus!   Rejoice!

Dear Father it is so comforting and encouraging to know that You are ultimately in control of all things and You are working everything according to Your plan and purposes through the ages. You have us living where we are living and living during this time we are living.   You have done this and not we ourselves.   Yes, may I rest in knowing that You are working all things for good to those who love You and are called according to Your purposes.
