Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”  She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world.” —John 11:25-27

You fear death? If you know Jesus you shouldn’t fear death! — “Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Hebrews 2:14-15).   Though you, believer in Jesus, may “die, yet shall (you) live and everyone who lives and believes in (Jesus) shall never die.”   The question is— “Do you believe this?”

What was Martha’s reply to “Do you believe this?” She said, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”   What is your answer? If it is the same as Martha’s then you do not need to fear death. Jesus overcame death and we are overcomers in Jesus — “And this is the victory that has overcome the world: our faith.   Who then overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” (I John 5:4-5).

Because of this COVID19 in our day, many are fearing death. They are so afraid that they might catch this virus and die. Surely we need to be wise as with any other sicknesses, but to live in fear of it is not of God. That is a ploy of Satan. But truly only those who know Jesus need not fear. Those who don’t know Jesus should fear — “Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:28). A person should fear death and what will happen to them after death if they have never called on Jesus in sincerity for salvation.

Death and fear of it has no hold on those who follow Jesus. So let us live like it and boldly proclaim this good news to others! Yes Dear Father may I proclaim this good news to many. Be pleased to work in and through me to bring this message to many and may many respond by calling on the Name of Jesus. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
